 Confrontation (Private)
« Thread Started on Jul 11, 2009, 1:07pm »

Victoria was quasi-dragging Nik down the halls, trying to remember which way lead to the Slytherin Dormitory. even though she knew full well that Creighton was a Slytherin and would probably have no quams gaining entry, it was the only safe place she could think of at the moment. (The Room of Requirement was under construction).

Ever since her parents' accident she'd had troubles trusting people. So she figured it was safe to assume that Creighton was a legillimens, and would try to listen in on their conversations. Fortunately for them English was not their only language.

Malone could feel the blood pooling in her feet, if she were to project her thoughts into Nik's head it would require the remaining blood from her brain to do so. Talking, while more painful, was the easier solution.

" Korda meh paloocheet v eenoye ya keechoo znet, chya preeskideet. Kolya." She struggled to find some of the words but she gave him the credit of being smart enough to decode her broken Russian. Now was not exactly the time for pride.

Right now she just hoped she'd be able to make it into the boys dormitory. The common room was not the best place for this kind of conversation.

Cheat Sheet for Amber: When we get to the room I want to know what is going on, Kolya. (I found a alphabet online and translated the russian characters! Whoo boredom!)

Before awareness was a possible route of intelligent thought, Nik was being led to . . . well, he wasn't quite sure, exactly. But this was bad. He felt as though he'd let out a good vomit again, just about as bad as the attacks brought on by the glory of food poisoning earlier, but he knew this had little to do with food. Besides, he hadn't eaten in fourteen hours.

Yes, he counted. Food mattered like that.

Awareness or not, though, Tori had managed to drag him all the way down to the commonroom, and he submissively followed down the stairs into the boys' dormitories. He was on autopilot, sure, but the brain part of him (the one he never used? Yeah, that one) was stuck in neutral. She saw. She knew. Or at least, had to know. Victoria Malone was not an idiot. And, if she could put one and four together (as the phrase "two and two" would've made sense, and this certainly wasn't a moment in time when Nik's cognitive thought adhered to making sense) he might've just lost one of the only remaining people who anchored him in reality.

And she used that stupid pet name. She sounded like his mom. What was he supposed to tell her? Sorry, Tori, can't meet you for lunch today, I'm busy with DARK. Oh, what's DARK? Yeah, just a club. We have tea sandwiches and play Yahtzee and scheme about eventual murders. Nothing much.

He didn't know how to answer. He loved her. He really did. But if she was really all that was left for him as far as friendships went, he wouldn't put her in any risk. She couldn't know any more than she did, even if the bitch blood in her was a fierce mechanism to deal with.

You're amazing, he spoke in his thoughts, taking the convenience of her "ability". You're amazing, and you need to stay the f*** out of this because of it. His grip tightened around her arm, perhaps a little too roughly. Do you hear me? He was aiming to break it, the wrist, or at least render it lame for a few hours. Absolutely amazing. He wasn't sure if he was speaking English or Russian or even the weird little bit of Gaelic he knew from his crazy paternal grandfather. Get the hell out of here.

OOC: The mention of "tea sandwiches" made me really really hungry o.O

Her haze was cut short when she felt his hand put her arm in a vice grip as Nik kept calling her amazing. That was a pet peeve of Tori's. In her experience, calling someone amazing, especially of the opposite sex, was a way of bitching out. A way of saying no without letting yourself feel like a dick. And while she knew that he meant it, her eyes couldn't help but narrow as he pushed her away. It was a little late for that.

She spat in his face. Rose colored mixture of blood and saliva. Rooted to the spot she mustered up the strength to make some things transparant. "Listen to me and you listen good. I don't care if you're with them, I don't care if you kill puppies!" A little humor was needed, making things melodramatic helped her not commit homicide. "But you will not tell me to sit on the side lines."

She took a step closer to him. (Because it was a little difficult to step the other way. He had her good punching arm.) "In case you haven't noticed, there aren't a whole lotta people left around here. The way I see it, it's kind of just you and me. And we just got the shit beat out of us," (leaving out the part where it was her fault) "by some psycho-bitch."

That last word brought Tori up to speed. Nik was with them. She wasn't exactly sure to what degree, Cadogan had never been gung-ho about... anything. She figured it was because his friends had asked him to. And that 'Psycho Bitch' had them killed. Tori understood where Nik was coming from, but since when did she listen to anyone?

Her demeanor changed, her blood pressure dropped a good 20 points. She wasn't sure because it was because she wasn't as pissed, or had just run out of blood. But at least now she wasn't going to explode. "What the fuck am I supposed to do now?" She asked. "I'm already kind of involved, if you hadn't noticed." Her best friend was now the target. 'Shit'.

She slipped out of Nikolai's grip, and proceeded to plop herself on the nearest bed. In a semi-conscious state she mumbled, "Why do things always get complicated?" It seemed that Nik and Tori could never just be. Tori never wanted a boring existence, but a fcuking vacation would be nice.

"This is Headmaster Creighton. All Muggle-borns please report to the Great Hall." That couldn't be good. What had Nik gotten himself into?
